SLC18A1 / VMAT1 antibody was raised against a 12 AA peptide sequence near the C-terminus of rat VMAT1 (1). This peptide is predicted to be cytoplasmic. The peptide was synthesized with amino terminal Cysteine, coupled to KLH.
Recognizes rat VMAT1. Does not recognize VMAT2 in transfected cells. The C-terminal rat VMAT1 sequence does not show any appreciable homology with hVMAT1. Antibodies to rVMAT1 are not expected to cross-react with hVMAT1.
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot. Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000 for neat serum and 1-10 ug/ml for affinity pure using ECL. A band of 95-110kD has been detected in brush border membrane. ELISA:1:10000-1:50000 for neat serum and 0.5-1 ug/ml for affinity purified. Control peptide can be used to coat ELISA plates at 1 ug/ml.
