SLC2A5/GLUT5 belongs to a family of glucose/fructose transport proteins that exhibit 45-65% amino acid homology. GLUT 5 functions mainly as a fructose transporter and is thought to be largely responsible for the uptake of fructose from the lumen of the small intestine. Its' expression is induced in mice exposed to high fructose diets. GLUT5 is also responsible for the uptake of fructose by spermatozoa.

HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6-ENTRY control (Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY SLC2A5 (Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 ug per lane) were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-SLC2A5.
Immunoprecipitation(IP) of SLC2A5 by using monoclonal anti-SLC2A5 antibodies (Negative control: IP without adding anti-SLC2A5 antibody.). For each experiment, 500ul of DDK tagged SLC2A5 overexpression lysates (at 1:5 dilution with HEK293T lysate), 2 ug of anti-SLC2A5 antibody and 20ul (0.1 mg) of goat anti-mouse conjugated magnetic beads were mixed and incubated overnight. After extensive wash to remove any non-specific binding, the immuno-precipitated products were analyzed with rabbit anti-DDK polyclonal antibody.
