Description
HTR1A is the G-protein coupled receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin). It functions as a membrane receptor for various drugs and psychoactive substances, and plays a role in the regulation of dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine levels in the brain. It is involved in affecting neural activity, mood and behavior, as well as the response to anxiogenic stimuli. The receptor is expressed in various regions of the brain, in lymphoid tissues, and activated T cells.
