Services
  • Immunohistochemistry Services

  • Work with LifeSpan to design a custom immunohistochemistry to address your specific biological question. Outsource the entire localization process without having to worry about finding and characterizing target specific antibodies, sourcing and validating difficult-to-find tissues, and having the ability to interpret the resulting immunostaining in relation to complex human pathologies.

  • TCR Screening Services

  • Test your therapeutic antibodies in immunohistochemistry against a broad panel of normal frozen human tissue types in order to determine potential unintended binding. Our non-GLP TCR services are designed on the FDA recommendation outlined in their "Points to Consider in the Manufacture and Testing of Monoclonal Antibody Products for Human Use".

Specificity and Use

GFAP antibody was raised against native Glial fibrillary acidic protein.
Human GFAP
The applications listed have been tested for the unmodified form of this product. Other forms have not been tested. Glial fibrillary acidic protein is one of the major intermediate filament proteins of mature astrocytes. It is used as a marker to distinguish astrocytes from other glial cells during development. Mutations in this gene cause Alexander disease, a rare disorder of astrocytes in the central nervous system. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [RefSeq] Titering of the GFAP antibody may be required for optimal performance. FFPE testing requires sections to be boiled in pH6 10mM citrate buffer for 10-20 minutes, followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes, prior to staining. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.

About GFAP

P14136 NM_002055 NP_002046.1

GFAP Antibody

GFAP, a class-III intermediate filament, is a cell-specific marker that, during the development of the central nervous system, distinguishes astrocytes from other glial cells.

Immunohistochemistry

Immunohistochemistry
IHC testing of human brain and GFAP antibody (GFA12-3). This image was taken for the unmodified form of this product. Other forms have not been tested.

Western blot

Western blot
Western blot testing of human brain and GFAP antibody (GFA12-3). Predicted molecular weight ~50 kDa. This image was taken for the unmodified form of this product. Other forms have not been tested.
