Description
GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein) is an intermediate filament protein found in the central nervous system. Functionally, GFAP helps maintain cell shape and astrocyte mechanical strength, as well as participate in cell communication and blood brain barrier function. In immunohistochemistry, it is positive in astrocytes, ganglion cells and some ependymal cells of the central nervous system. In cancer, it is positive in ependymomas and in astrocytic tumors such as astrocytic gliomas, astrocytomas and glioblastomas.

Usage
Immunohistochemistry: LS-B2192 was validated for use in immunohistochemistry on a panel of 21 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) human tissues after heat induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer. After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen. The stained slides were evaluated by a pathologist to confirm staining specificity. The optimal working concentration for LS-B2192 was determined to be 5 ug/ml.
