Specificity and Use
ENO1 / Alpha Enolase antibody was raised against native human NNE.
Recognizes human non-neuronal enolase, also known as alpha enolase or enolase 1. Rabbit anti non-neuronal enolase demonstrates less than 0.1% cross-reactivity with neuron-specific enolase. Non-neuronal enolase is a glycolytic enzyme composed of homodimeric alpha enolase subunits and is expressed in most human tissues. The gene coding for the 48kD form of non-neuronal enolase also codes for a shorter 37kD isoform, myc-binding protein 1 (MBP-1) lacking the N-terminal 93 amino acids of non-neuronal enolase.

This gene encodes alpha-enolase, one of three enolase isoenzymes found in mammals. Each isoenzyme is a homodimer composed of 2 alpha, 2 gamma, or 2 beta subunits, and functions as a glycolytic enzyme. Alpha-enolase in addition, functions as a structural lens protein (tau-crystallin) in the monomeric form. Alternative splicing of this gene results in a shorter isoform that has been shown to bind to the c-myc promoter and function as a tumor suppressor.
