  • Immunohistochemistry Services

  • Work with LifeSpan to design a custom immunohistochemistry to address your specific biological question. Outsource the entire localization process without having to worry about finding and characterizing target specific antibodies, sourcing and validating difficult-to-find tissues, and having the ability to interpret the resulting immunostaining in relation to complex human pathologies.

  • TCR Screening Services

  • Test your therapeutic antibodies in immunohistochemistry against a broad panel of normal frozen human tissue types in order to determine potential unintended binding. Our non-GLP TCR services are designed on the FDA recommendation outlined in their "Points to Consider in the Manufacture and Testing of Monoclonal Antibody Products for Human Use".

Specificity and Use

CD163 antibody was raised against human CD163
The antigen is CD163, the epitope has not been further characterized. Antigen distribution: Isolated cells: Monocytes, particularly after dexamethasone treatment or after 2-5 days in culture. Does not react with lymphocytes, granulocytes or platelets. Tissue sections: Positive staining can be observed in the skin (histiocytes), gut, Kupffer cells, few alveolar macrophages, a major population of macrophages in the placenta, varying degrees of macrophages in inflamed tissues, including tumorous tissue depending on the inflammatory stage. Red pulp, but not white pulp macrophages of the spleen, and cortical macrophages of the thymus are detected. Macrophages in the synovialis of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. In alveolar macrophages and in Kupffer cells a double staining can be observed with monoclonal antibody 25F9 which is not the case in other tissues. Specificity: Human: monocytes and macrophages. Other: not tested.
The applications listed have been tested for the unconjugated form of this product. Other forms have not been tested.

About CD163

Q86VB7 NM_004244 NP_004235.4

CD163 Antibody, CD163 antigen Antibody, Macrophage-associated antigen Antibody, M130 Antibody, CD163 molecule Antibody, Hemoglobin scavenger receptor Antibody, MM130 Antibody

Acute phase-regulated receptor involved in clearance and endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes by macrophages and may thereby protect tissues from free hemoglobin-mediated oxidative damage. May play a role in the uptake and recycling of iron, via endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin and subsequent breakdown of heme. Binds hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes in a calcium-dependent and pH-dependent manner.
