SFRP5

secreted frizzled-related protein 5

SARP3 is a frizzled protein that lacks the 7-transmembrane motif used as anchor to the plasma membrane. They modulate Wnt signaling by competing with membrane-bound frizzled receptors for binding secreted Wnt ligands. SARP3 is involved in determining tissue of photoreceptor cells in the retina. It is highly expressed in the retinal pigment epithelium, and moderately expressed in the pancreas.
