PTPN9 / MEG2

protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 9

MEG2, a NT3 non-receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase, contains a N-terminal domain that shares high similarity with yeast SEC14, a protein that has phosphatidylinositol transfer activity and is required for protein secretion through the Golgi complex. MEG2 has been found to be activated by polyphosphoinositide and is thought to affect signaling events regulating phagocytosis in human neutrophils. BAC clones containing the MEG2 gene have been shown to have markedly reduced hybridization in the 15q22-q23 region on chromosome 15 in a patient with autism, developmental delay and mild dysmorphism. In addition, MEG2 has been suggested as a potential biomarker for the monocytic differentiation of myeloid leukemia cells.

Gene Name: protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 9
Family/Subfamily: Protein Phosphatase , NT3
Synonyms: PTPN9, MEG2, Ptp-meg2, PTPase MEG2, PTPase-MEG2, PTPMEG2
Target Sequences: NM_002833 NP_002824.1 P43378
