NPY6R, a member of the Neuropeptide Receptor GPCR family, is a pseudogene in human and pig and is absent in rat, but generates a functional receptor in rabbit and mouse. Despite its inactivation in humans, the transcripts are detected abundantly in the heart and skeletal muscle, suggesting a novel function of the human gene.
