FUS1

Nuclear fusion protein FUS1

Required for cell fusion. Negatively regulates Sho1p signaling to ensure efficient cell fusion. Interacts with SHO1. Expression regulated by mating pheromone; proposed to coordinate signaling, fusion, and polarization events. FUS1 remains essentially unexpressed in vegetative cells, but is strongly induced by incubation of haploid cells with the appropriate mating pheromone.

Gene Name: Nuclear fusion protein FUS1
Synonyms: FUS1
Target Sequences: P11710
