CCK4 / PTK7

protein tyrosine kinase 7

PTK7, a CCK4 membrane spanning tyrosine protein kinase, belongs to a subgroup of kinases that lack detectable catalytic tyrosine kinase activity but retain roles in signal transduction. PTK7 may function as a cell adhesion molecule. This gene was isolated from carcinomic colon tissue and has been suggested to affect colon carcinoma physiology. Expression of PTK7 has been shown to be reduced in melanoma samples. Five transcript variants encoding five different isoforms have been found for this gene.
