This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of biotin. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between biotin and analogs was observed. Note: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between biotin and all the analogs, therefore, cross reaction may still exist.
LS-F10160 is a 96-well enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the Quantitative detection of Biotin in samples of Plasma and Serum. It is based upon a Competitive EIA assay principle and can be used to detect levels of Biotin as low as 4.986 picograms per milliliter.

Upon receiving a custom kit order, the kit will be assembled and quality control tested before being shipped out. Kit assembly and testing typically takes 4 to 6 weeks. In most cases the final kit is based on the Sandwich assay principle, with a few being Competitive EIA based. Specifications such as Range, Sensitivity, and Precision are defined upon completion. In the event that the custom kit cannot be successfully developed with 6 weeks of the order date, the customer will be notified and the order canceled at no cost.

ELISA kit lot numbers reflect the date of final assembly and testing for each specific kit rather than a bulk manufactured lot. All kits are tested to confirm that they fall within their defined Inter- and Intra- assay coefficient of variation.

This assay employs the direct competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microplate was pre-coated with Avidin. Add Biotin (Standards or samples) to the well, and then add HRP-conjugated Biotin. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between Biotin (Standards or samples) and HRP conjugated Biotin with the Avidin. The substrate solutions are added to the wells, respectively. And the color develops in opposite to the amount of Biotin bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Biotin is widely used throughout the biotechnology industry to conjugate proteins for biochemical assays. Biotin's small size means the biological activity of the protein will most likely be unaffected. This process is called biotinylation. Because both streptavidin and avidin bind biotin with high affinity (Kd of 10-14 mol/l to 10-15 mol/l) and specificity, biotinylated proteins of interest can be isolated from a sample by exploiting this highly stable interaction.
