Immunogen
Synthetic peptide C-NFDMDARRNKQQRIKEEGE corresponding to amino acids 662-680 within the C-Terminus of p63. Percent identity by BLAST analysis: Human, Chimpanzee, Gorilla, Orangutan, Gibbon, Monkey, Galago, Ferret, Elephant, Panda, Bovine, Dog, Cat, Horse, Rabbit, Pig, Opossum, Guinea pig, Turkey, Zebra finch, Chicken, Platypus (100%); Marmoset, Mouse, Rat, Hamster (95%); Xenopus (89%); Pufferfish (84%).
Specificity
Specifically recognizes an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of tumor protein p63, otherwise known as tumor protein p73-like (p73L), a widely expressed nuclear protein and homologue of tumor suppressor p53, which acts as a sequence-specific DNA binding transcriptional activator/repressor. p63, vital for the development of the prostate and selectively expressed by normal prostate basal cells, has been shown to be a promising complementary basal cell specific marker to High Molecular Weight-Cytokeratin (HMW-CK), for the differential diagnosis of benign prostatic lesions and prostatic carcinoma. The antibody is reported as suitable for use in immunocytochemistry.
