Immunogen
SLC18A2 / VMAT2 antibody was raised against a 13 AA peptide sequence near the C-terminus of rat VMAT2 (1). This peptide is predicted to be cytoplasmic. The peptide was synthesized with amino terminal Cysteine, coupled to KLH.

Specificity
Recognizes rat VMAT2. Does not recognize VMAT1 in transfected cells. The rat VMAT2 sequence is 92% homologous with hVMAT2 (12/13 aa; with just 1 conservative amino acid change) and has no appreciable homology with the C-terminus of VMAT1.
Usage
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot. Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000 for neat serum and 1-10 ug/ml for affinity pure using ECL. A band of 95-110kD has been detected in brush border membrane. ELISA:1:10000-1:50000 for neat serum and 0.5-1 ug/ml for affinity purified. Control peptide can be used to coat ELISA plates at 1 ug/ml.
