MAG Lipase is a lipase that functions together with hormone-sensitive lipase to hydrolyze intracellular triglyceride stores in adipocytes and other cell types to form fatty acids and glycerol. MAG lipase also works with lipoprotein lipase to hydrolyze monoglycerides resulting from degradation of lipoprotein triglycerides. It is localized in the enteric nervous system to function in the regulation of levels of endocannabinoids, and regulates intestinal motility and has a role in digestion.
