Specificity and Use
TNF Alpha antibody was raised against recombinant mouse TNFa expressed in E. coli.
Binds and neutralizes murine TNFa. Does not recognize human or rat TNFa.
Suitable for use in Dot Blot and Neutralization. Dot Blot: 1 ug/ml detected 5 ng recombinant murine TNFa. Neutralization: 3 ug/ml neutralized 50% of the cytotoxic effect of 50pg/ml recombinant mouse TNFa on actinomycin D treated L929 cells. The antibody concentration needed to neutralize the bioactivity of TNFa will depend on cell type, incubation conditions and biological response.

TNF Alpha is a multifunctional proinflammatory cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. This cytokine is mainly secreted by macrophages. It can bind to, and thus functions through its receptors TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR. This cytokine is involved in the regulation of a wide spectrum of biological processes including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, lipid metabolism, and coagulation.
