MYOD / MYOD1 antibody was raised against recombinant mouse MyoD1 protein.
Recognizes Human MyoD1. Does not cross-react with myogenin, Myf5 or Myf6. Species cross-reactivity: Mouse, rat, chicken.
Suitable for use in Electron Microscopy, ELISA, Immunofluorescence and Immunoprecipitation. Immunoprecipitation: 2 ug/mg protein lysate. Use Protein A. Positive control: SW80 cells. The applications listed have been tested for the unmodified form of this product. Other forms have not been tested.

Acts as a transcriptional activator that promotes transcription of muscle-specific target genes and plays a role in muscle differentiation. Together with MYF5 and MYOG, co-occupies muscle-specific gene promoter core region during myogenesis. Induces fibroblasts to differentiate into myoblasts. Interacts with and is inhibited by the twist protein. This interaction probably involves the basic domains of both proteins.
