Recognizes human Interleukin-13 (IL-13).
Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunofluorescence, Flow Cytometry, Western Blot and neutralization. Immunofluorescence/Flow Cytometry: Useful for intracytoplasmic staining and flow cytometric analysis to identify and enumerate IL-13-positive cells within mixed cell populations. Recombinant human IL-13, or Rat IgG1 should be used as a specificity control. Western Blot: 1-5 ug/ml (in conjunction with AP-labeled Goat Anti-Rat-Ig) has been found to enable detection of 100 ng/lane of recombinant human IL-13 under reducing conditions.

IL13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. This cytokine is involved in several stages of B-cell maturation and differentiation. It up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching of B cells. This cytokine down-regulates macrophage activity, thereby inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines.
