Immunogen
Synthetic peptide with the amino acid sequence DLSEALKEATKEVHC corresponding to residues 12-25 of human heme oxygenase 1. Percent identity by BLAST analysis: Human, Gorilla, Orangutan, Gibbon, Monkey, Marmoset, Mouse, Rat, Hamster, Elephant, Panda, Dog, Bat, Bovine, Pig, Opossum, Platypus, Xenopus (100%); Turkey, Chicken, Lizard (93%).
Epitope
aa12-25
Specificity
Recognizes human heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), a 288 amino acid enzyme with a crucial role in heme catabolism, cleaving the heme ring to form biliverdin which is further processed to form bilirubin by a reductase enzyme. HO-1 acitivity is highest in the spleen where it is involved in the processing of senescent erythrocytes. HO-1expression can be increased during cellular stress, including heat shock. Baseline levels of expression are high in certain tissues, including spleen and liver. Enriched enzyme preparations are recommended for experimental analysis.
Applications
  • IHC - Frozen
  • Western blot (1:500 - 1:2000)
Performing IHC? See our complete line of Immunohistochemistry Reagents including antigen retrieval solutions, blocking agents ABC Detection Kits and polymers, biotinylated secondary antibodies, substrates and more.
Usage
Western Blot: Heme oxygenase 1 demonstrates a single band of approximately 32kD. Immunohistology: LS-C11351 reacts with human spleen, kidney and airway biopsies, as well as pig arteries.
Presentation
PBS, 0.065% Sodium Azide
