  • Work with LifeSpan to design a custom immunohistochemistry to address your specific biological question. Outsource the entire localization process without having to worry about finding and characterizing target specific antibodies, sourcing and validating difficult-to-find tissues, and having the ability to interpret the resulting immunostaining in relation to complex human pathologies.

  • TCR Screening Services

  • Test your therapeutic antibodies in immunohistochemistry against a broad panel of normal frozen human tissue types in order to determine potential unintended binding. Our non-GLP TCR services are designed on the FDA recommendation outlined in their "Points to Consider in the Manufacture and Testing of Monoclonal Antibody Products for Human Use".

Specificity and Use

GLRA1/Glycine Receptor Alpha 1 antibody was raised against peptide from the amino terminus of the human alpha 1 glycine receptor subunit conjugated to KLH.
Recognizes glycine receptor alpha 1. Shows cross-reactivity to glycine receptor alpha 2. subunits Used successfully in Western blot and immunoprecipitation assays with cell extracts containing recombinant human glycine receptors and with homogenates of mouse spinal cord. By Western blot recognizes a protein with a MW of ~48kD. Species Reactivity: Human and mouse.
Western blot: 1:10 using ECL Immunoprecipitation: 1:10 following the protocol of Raymond et al, Nature (1993) 361:637-1:641.

Glycine is an important inhibitory transmitter in the brainstem and spinal cord. Glycine receptors are members of the ligand-gated ion channel family (LGICs) that mediate rapid chemical neurotransmission. The binding of glycine to its receptor produces a large increase in chloride conductance, which causes membrane hyperpolarization. Glycine receptors are anchored at inhibitory chemical synapses by a cytoplasmic protein, gephyrin.
