FKBP4 / FKBP52 antibody was raised against partially purified 9S rabbit uterine progesterone receptor.
Detects an ~59 kD protein, corresponding to the apparent molecular mass of FKBP59 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots, in samples from human, monkey, bovine, mink, rabbit, hamster and guinea pig (weakly) origins. An additional, unidentified 50 kD band is observed in some cell lysates. This antibody has been shown to block the ability of FK506 to promote neurite outgrowth from SH-SY5Y cells in a concentration-dependent manner between 50 and 100 nM (5).
FKBP4 / FKBP52 is a member of the immunophilin protein family, which play a role in immunoregulation and basic cellular processes involving protein folding and trafficking. This encoded protein is a cis-trans prolyl isomerase that binds to the immunosuppressants FK506 and rapamycin. It has high structural and functional similarity to FK506-binding protein 1A (FKBP1A), but unlike FKBP1A, this protein does not have immunosuppressant activity when complexed with FK506.
