Specificity and Use
EGFR antibody was raised against bALB/C mice were injected with extracellular domain of human recombinant EGFR protein.
Is specific to 170 kD known as first member (EGF- Receptor) of type I Family of growth factor receptors. Its epitope maps in the extracellular domain of EGFR. Overexpression of EGFR has been reported in tumors of breast, brain, bladder, lung, gastric, head and neck, esophagus, cervix, vulva, ovary and endometrium. EGFR is over expressed in squamous cell carcinoma.
Receptor tyrosine kinase binding ligands of the EGF family and activating several signaling cascades to convert extracellular cues into appropriate cellular responses. Known ligands include EGF, TGFA/TGF-alpha, amphiregulin, epigen/EPGN, BTC/betacellulin, epiregulin/EREG and HBEGF/heparin-binding EGF. Ligand binding triggers receptor homo- and/or heterodimerization and autophosphorylation on key cytoplasmic residues.
