Services
  • Immunohistochemistry Services

  • Work with LifeSpan to design a custom immunohistochemistry to address your specific biological question. Outsource the entire localization process without having to worry about finding and characterizing target specific antibodies, sourcing and validating difficult-to-find tissues, and having the ability to interpret the resulting immunostaining in relation to complex human pathologies.

  • TCR Screening Services

  • Test your therapeutic antibodies in immunohistochemistry against a broad panel of normal frozen human tissue types in order to determine potential unintended binding. Our non-GLP TCR services are designed on the FDA recommendation outlined in their "Points to Consider in the Manufacture and Testing of Monoclonal Antibody Products for Human Use".

Specificity and Use

EDN1 / Endothelin 1 antibody was raised against c-terminal fragment of human endothelin 1.
C-Terminus
Recognizes human endothelin 1 (ET-1). Endothelin-1 in it's precursor form is a 212 amino acid protein with a 17 aa signal peptide, an N-terminal pro-peptide region and a C-terminal pro-peptide region flanking the endothelin peptides, big endothelin-1 (38aa), the precursor of the smaller endothelin peptide which is cleaved by endothelin converting enzyme to produce the active endothelin-1 (21aa) peptide and a c-terminal fragment. Endothelin-1 is a potent vasoconstrictor with a molecular weight of approximately 25 kD. Shows less than 10% reactivity with endothelin 3. Plasma levels of both endothelin-1 and big endothelin-1 are useful as predictors for survival of patients with congestive heart failure. However, the half life of the endothlin1 peptide in human plasma is very short (c1.0mins) and measurement of big-endothelin-1 may be a more reliable measure of the endothelin secretory pathway activity.

EDN1 / Endothelin 1 is proteolytically processed to release a secreted peptide termed endothelin 1. This peptide is a potent vasoconstrictor and is produced by vascular endothelial cells. Endothelin 1 also can affect the central nervous system. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
