Specificity and Use
Collagen IV antibody was raised against native Collagen Type IV from mouse EHS tumor.
Recognizes mouse collagen Type IV: 100%; mouse Types I, II, III: <0.1%; Human Types IV, V: <0.1%; Mouse Fibronectin: <0.1%; Mouse Laminin: <0.1%. Determined by RIA. Species cross-reactivity: reacts weakly with human.
Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry and ELISA. Immunofluorescence: 1:40-1:160. Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:250-1:1000. (Recommended Immunohistochemistry fixatives: AFA, buffered formalin (5-10%) or Bouin's). ELISA: 1:100-1:400.

About Collagen IV
Type IV Collagen (ColIV or Col4) is a type of collagen found primarily in the basal lamina. The collagen IV C4 domain at the C-terminus is not removed in post-translational processing, and the fibers link head-to-head, rather than in parallel. Also, collagen IV lacks the regular glycine in every third residue necessary for the tight, collagen helix. This makes the overall arrangement more sloppy with kinks. These two features cause the collagen to form in a sheet, the form of the basal lamina.
