Services
  • Immunohistochemistry Services

  • Work with LifeSpan to design a custom immunohistochemistry to address your specific biological question. Outsource the entire localization process without having to worry about finding and characterizing target specific antibodies, sourcing and validating difficult-to-find tissues, and having the ability to interpret the resulting immunostaining in relation to complex human pathologies.

  • TCR Screening Services

  • Test your therapeutic antibodies in immunohistochemistry against a broad panel of normal frozen human tissue types in order to determine potential unintended binding. Our non-GLP TCR services are designed on the FDA recommendation outlined in their "Points to Consider in the Manufacture and Testing of Monoclonal Antibody Products for Human Use".

Specificity and Use

BAX antibody was raised against synthetic peptide (GSGEQPRGGGPTSS, aa3-16 of UniProt Q07812) from the human protein. Percent identity by BLAST analysis: Human, Ferret, Cat, Bovine, Goat, Pig, Dog (100%); Bat, Elephant, Opossum (93%); Rat, Hamster, Guinea pig (86%); Mouse (79%).

The applications listed have been tested for the unmodified form of this product. Other forms have not been tested. Recognizes a protein of 21kDa, identified as the Bax protein. This mAb is highly specific to Bax and shows no cross-reaction with Bcl-2 or Bcl-X protein. Bcl-2 blocks cell death following a variety of stimuli. Bax has extensive amino acid homology with Bcl-2 and it homodimerizes and forms heterodimers with Bcl-2. Overexpression of Bax accelerates apoptotic death induced by cytokine deprivation in an IL-3 dependent cell line, and Bax also counters the death repressor activity of Bcl-2. The optimal dilution of the anti-Bax antibody for each application should be determined by the researcher. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.

About BAX

Q07812 NM_004324 NP_004315.1

BAX Antibody, BCL2-associated X protein Antibody, Bcl2-L-4 Antibody, Apoptosis regulator BAX Antibody, Bcl-2-like protein 4 Antibody, BCL2L4 Antibody

Apoptosis plays a major role in normal organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells. Disruption of this process has been implicated in a variety of diseases such as cancer. The Bcl-2 family of proteins is comprised of critical regulators of apoptosis that can be divided into two classes: those that inhibit apoptosis and those that promote cell death.
