This antibody recognizes myosin II and is highly specific for immunoblotting. Binding assays show strong reactivity with myosin heavy chain, weak reactivity with myosin light chain, and no cross-reactivity with skeletal and smooth muscle myosin. Immunocytochemistry shows uniform staining throughout growth cones in a punctate pattern with occasional concentration in filopodia. Rabbits were immunized with an intact and native myosin II purified from human platelets.
