NPY2R (Neuropeptide Y receptor type 2) is a receptor for neuropeptide Y and peptide YY. The rank order of affinity of this receptor for pancreatic polypeptides is PYY > NPY > PYY (3-36) > NPY (2-36) > [Ile-31, Gln-34] PP > [Leu-31, Pro-34] NPY > PP, [Pro-34] PYY and NPY free acid. Methylation of NPY2R may be a useful prognostic epigenetic marker of poor disease-free survival in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Additionally, it is strongly expressed in some neuroblastomas, renal carcinomas and paragangliomas, and targeting NPY2R with agonists like BIM-43004-1 can suppress tumor cell growth. In immunohistochemistry, NPY2R has membranous positivity on neurons throughout the central nervous system and is also found at lower levels in peripheral tissues, predominently on nerve cells, ganglia and some immune cells.
