AKT2 antibody was raised against a synthetic peptide, RYDSLGLLELDQRT, corresponding to aa455-468 (of 481) of human AKT2 (KLH). Percent identity by BLAST analysis: Human, Gorilla, Baboon, Monkey (100%); Rat, Hamster, Elephant, Bovine, Dog, Pig (93%); Mouse, Horse (86%).
Recognizes both unphosphorylated and phosphorylated human AKT2. Species sequence homology: rat-92%, mouse-85%.

AKT2 is one of 3 closely related serine/threonine-protein kinases (AKT1, AKT2 and AKT3) called the AKT kinase, and which regulate many processes including metabolism, proliferation, cell survival, growth and angiogenesis. This is mediated through serine and/or threonine phosphorylation of a range of downstream substrates. Over 100 substrate candidates have been reported so far, but for most of them, no isoform specificity has been reported.
