Specificity and Use
ACP1 / Acid Phosphatase antibody was raised against a portion of amino acids 50-100 of human ACP1.
The amino acid sequence used as the immunogen for this is 100% homologous in human, 93% in dog and orangutan, 86% in chicken and 80% homologous in mouse and rat (isoform a). It is also 100% homologous in human ACP1 isoforms c and d. An uncharacterized 45 kD band is also seen and blocked by the immunizing peptide.
ACP1 / Acid Phosphatase belongs to the phosphotyrosine protein phosphatase family of proteins. It functions as an acid phosphatase and a protein tyrosine phosphatase by hydrolyzing protein tyrosine phosphate to protein tyrosine and orthophosphate. This enzyme also hydrolyzes orthophosphoric monoesters to alcohol and orthophosphate. This gene is genetically polymorphic, and three common alleles segregating at the corresponding locus give rise to six phenotypes.
