RIO kinase 3

The sudD gene was identified as 1 of 4 genes that are cold-sensitive suppressors of the bimD6 mutation. The bimD6 mutation of Aspergillus nidulans confers a heat-sensitive mitotic defect characterized by a failure of chromosomes to correctly attach to the spindle microtubules, resulting in an increase in chromosome loss. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been reported.
