PRKACG

protein kinase, cAMP-dependent, catalytic, gamma

PRKACG, a cAMP type protein kinase, is the catalytic gamma subunit for the PKA holoenzyme. Cgamma activates CRE-responsive genes and the transcription of genes containing pTK-like Sp1RE sites. Activation of different C subunit isoforms can provide a means to diversify cAMP-mediated transcription, possibly affecting cell phenotype. The PRKACG gene is believed to be a PRKACA-derived retroposon.

Gene Name: protein kinase, cAMP-dependent, catalytic, gamma
Family/Subfamily: Protein Kinase , cAMP
Synonyms: PRKACG, KAPG, PKA C-gamma, PKACg, Cgamma
Target Sequences: NM_002732 AAC41690.1 P22612
