Farnesoid X receptor beta was identified as a new member of the NR family by Robinson-Rechavi et al. 2001 using a comparative genomics approach. Recently, FXRbeta has been shown to be a functional receptor in mice, rats, rabbits and dogs and a nonfunctional pseudogene in humans and primates (Otte et al. 2003).
