JUN / c-Jun

jun proto-oncogene

c-Jun is a component of the transcription factor activator protein 1 (AP-1) that binds to and activates transcription at TRE/AP-1 elements. Phosphorylation of c-Jun at Ser 63/73, resulting in activation and c-Jun dependent transcription, occurs in response to extra or intracellular signals, including UV irradiation, growth factors and transforming oncoproteins.

Gene Name: jun proto-oncogene
Family/Subfamily: Transcription factor , not assigned-Transcription factor
Synonyms: JUN, Activator protein 1, AP-1, C-Jun, Jun proto-oncogene, p39, Jun oncogene, Proto-oncogene c-Jun, AP1, Enhancer-binding protein AP1, G0s7, Transcription factor AP-1, v-jun
Target Sequences: NM_002228 NP_002219.1 P05412
