IL17RB

interleukin 17 receptor B

IL17RB is a type I transmembrane protein with 17% homology to IL17R. Studies have shown that IL17RB binds strongly to IL17E, weakly to IL17B but does not bind IL17 or IL17C. The IL17 proteins are a family of potent cytokines that act to induce proinflammatory responses. Receptor binding of ligand has been shown to lead to the activation of nuclear factor kappa-B and production of IL8. Studies in a rat model of chemically induced IBD showed increased expression of IL17RB in the small intestine of treated rats.
