GSTT1

glutathione S-transferase theta 1

GSTT1, glutathione S-transferase (GST) theta 1 (GSTT1), is a member of a superfamily of proteins that catalyze the conjugation of reduced glutathione to a variety of electrophilic and hydrophobic compounds. Human GSTs can be divided into five main classes: alpha, mu, pi, theta, and zeta. The theta class includes GSTT1 and GSTT2. GSTT1 and GSTT2 share 55% amino acid sequence identity and both may play an important role in human carcinogenesis. The GSTT1 and GSTT2 genes have a similar structure, being composed of five exons with identical exon/intron boundaries. This GSTT1 gene is haplotype-specific and is absent from 38% of the population. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. Two related pseudogenes, which are also located on chromosome 22, have been identified.

Gene Name: glutathione S-transferase theta 1
Synonyms: GSTT1, GST class-theta-1, Glutathione transferase T1-1
Target Sequences: NM_000853 NP_000844.2 P30711

GSTT1 Antibody - Immunohistochemical analysis of GSTT1 staining in human kidney formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with hematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
