Guanine nucleotide binding protein is a member of a G protein subfamily that mediates signal transduction in pertussis toxin-insensitive systems. GNAZ lacks a pertussis modification site and may play a role in maintaining the ionic balance of perilymphatic and endolymphatic cochlear fluids.
