GALNT2

Udp-n-acetyl-alpha-d-galactosamine:polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 2 (GALNAC-T2)

Catalyzes the initial reaction in O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis, the transfer of an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine residue to a serine or threonine residue on the protein receptor. Has a broad spectrum of substrates for peptides such as EA2, Muc5AC, Muc1a, Muc1b. Probably involved in O-linked glycosylation of the immunoglobulin A1 (IgA1) hinge region.

Gene Name: Udp-n-acetyl-alpha-d-galactosamine:polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 2 (GALNAC-T2)
Synonyms: GALNT2, GalNAc-T2, Pp-GaNTase 2, UDP-GalNAc transferase 2
Target Sequences: NM_004481 NP_004472.1 Q10471

GALNT2 Antibody - Immunofluorescent analysis of GalNAc-T2 staining in HeLa cells. Formalin-fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 5-10 minutes and blocked with 3% BSA-PBS for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cells were probed with the primary antibody in 3% BSA-PBS and incubated overnight at 4 deg C in a humidified chamber. Cells were washed with PBST and incubated with a DyLight 594-conjugated secondary antibody (red) in PBS at room temperature in the dark.
