STK17A, a DAPK type protein kinase, functions in apoptotic signaling. The catalytic domain is similar to that of other members of this subfamily, and the noncatalytic C-terminus is responsible for regulation of kinase activity. In vitro assays have shown that protein is autophosphorylated.
