1. Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. Immobilized recombinant human VEGFA at 1.25 µg/ml (100 µl/well) can bind VEGFR2 with a linear range of 1.25-40.0 ng/ml. 2. Measured by its ability to inhibit the VEGF-dependent proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). The ED50 for this effect is typically 10-40 ng/mL in the presence of 10 ng/mL recombinant human VEGF165.

Plays an essential role in the regulation of angiogenesis, vascular development, vascular permeability, and embryonic hematopoiesis. Promotes proliferation, survival, migration and differentiation of endothelial cells. Promotes reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton. Isoforms lacking a transmembrane domain, such as isoform 2 and isoform 3, may function as decoy receptors for VEGFA, VEGFC and/or VEGFD.
