LSBio offers blocking peptides for many of its antibodies. Blocking peptides are a useful tool for determining an antibody’s specific staining. Although the antigen binding portion of an antibody may be highly specific,
other portions of the antibody can bind non-specifically, resulting in multiple bands in Western blots or non-specific localization in immunohistochemistry. Blocking peptides can be used to pre-absorb, or neutralize, an antibody’s
antigen binding site. By running the neutralized antibody in parallel with the native antibody, the results can be compared and specific staining differentiated from non-specific.
