Antibody MAB2513 is directed against rat integrin a1b1 (VLA-1), a receptor for collagen and laminin. Antibody specificity has been confirmed by 1) its ability to immunoprecipitate beta1 (Mr ~200 kD) and b1 (Mr ~120 kD) from (125)I-surface labeled PC12 cells and 2) reciprocal depletion of VLA-1 antigen from cell lysate with antiserum against the cytoplasmic domain of a1 integrin subunit. Analysis of immunoprecipitation by SDS-PAGE was carried out under non-reducing conditions using a 6% gel. The antibody will not recognize the individual integrin subunits, only the VLA-1 complex. The antibody is not effective in western blots of VLA-1 for this reason, only immunoprecipitation or staining (acetone fixed only)
