Description
SGK2 is a serine/threonine-protein kinase that modulates the expression of a wide variety of ion channels, membrane transporters, cell growth, survival and proliferation. It upregulates Na+ channel SCNN1A (ENAC), K+ channels KCNA3 (Kv1.3), KCNE1 and KCNQ1, amino acid transporter SLC6A19, glutamate transporter SLC1A6 (EAAT4), glutamate receptors GRIA1 (GLUR1) and GRIK2 (GLUR6), Na+/H+ exchanger SLC9A3 (NHE3), and the Na+/K+ ATPase. It also regulates the human organic anion transporter 4 (OAT4) via NEDD4. In immunohistochemistry, it has high expression in kidney proximal tubule cells, and is also found in the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, skeletal muscle, brain, adrenal and thyroid glands, skin, appendix and spleen, and in reproductive tissues.

Usage
Immunohistochemistry: The unconjugated form was validated for use in immunohistochemistry on a panel of 21 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) human tissues after proteinase K antigen retrieval. After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen. The stained slides were evaluated by a pathologist to confirm staining specificity. The optimal working concentration for the unconjugated form was determined to be 5 ug/ml.
