Description
IGFBP5 is an IGF binding protein that functions to prolong the half-life of IGFs. It modulates the growth promoting effects of IGFs and alters the interaction of IGFs with their cell surface receptors. In immunohistochemistry, has secretory and extracellular positivity in the liver, kidney, brain, retina, reproductive tissues, thyroid, muscle and in osteosarcoma.
