G protein-coupled receptor 12 (GPR12) is a constitutively active Lysophospholipid/Lysosphingolipid receptor. It promotes neurite outgrowth and blocks myelin inhibition in neurons, and it also stimulates cyclic AMP production. In immunohistochemistry, GPR12 has highest membranous positivity in the basal ganglia, cerebellum and cerebral cortex in the brain, and it is found at moderate to low levels throughout the nervous system. It has additional positivity in the salivary gland, skin, and breast, and potentially at low levels in other tissues throughout the body. References: The UniProt Consortium.
