Recognizes the Bb fragment of human factor B. Antibody binding abolishes the formation of C3bBb complexes. In Western blotting after SDS-PAGE, it reacts with the Bb fragment of factor B in non-reduced form only. After coupling to an activated CNBr-Sepharose column, this antibody is suitable for affinity purification of human factor B. Epitope specificity differs from that of LS-C22336. Also differs from LS-C22333 but slightly overlaps as determined by inhibition ELISA.

CFB / Complement Factor B is complement factor B, a component of the alternative pathway of complement activation. Factor B circulates in the blood as a single chain polypeptide. Upon activation of the alternative pathway, it is cleaved by complement factor D yielding the noncatalytic chain Ba and the catalytic subunit Bb. The active subunit Bb is a serine protease which associates with C3b to form the alternative pathway C3 convertase.
