Specificity
Recognizes the calcitonin receptor in human, mouse and rat. The calcitonin receptor is a seven transmembrane domain cell surface protein which is coupled to G protein messenger systems. Recognizes an epitope within the cytoplasmic domain that is common to both C1a and C1b rat isoforms. Calcitonin receptor is expressed in kidney, central and peripheral nervous systems and in osteoclasts. It is also expressed in a number of tissues during the development of the embryo and may be important in fetal morphogenesis.
