Specificity and Use
XRCC6 / Ku70 antibody was raised against proximal sequence element (PSE1) of the human U1 small nuclear RNA extracted from human placenta.
Recognizes the small ~ subunit (~70 kD)of placental PSE1 and human Ku in solution and when bound to DNA.
Works well in Western blot and electrophoretic mobility (gel shift) assays for identifying PSE1 or Ku. May be used to immuno-deplete Ku protein from protein mixtures prior to specific DNA affinity chromatography.

Single-stranded DNA-dependent ATP-dependent helicase. Has a role in chromosome translocation. The DNA helicase II complex binds preferentially to fork-like ends of double-stranded DNA in a cell cycle-dependent manner. It works in the 3'-5' direction. Binding to DNA may be mediated by XRCC6. Involved in DNA non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) required for double-strand break repair and V(D)J recombination.
