The applications listed have been tested for the unmodified form of this product. Other forms have not been tested. Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor is a member of the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. It is a heparin-binding protein which exists as a disulfide-linked homodimer. This growth factor induces proliferation and migration of vascular endothelial cells, and is essential for both physiological and pathological angiogenesis. Disruption of this gene in mice resulted in abnormal embryonic blood vessel formation. This gene is upregulated in many known tumors and its expression is correlated with tumor stage and progression. Elevated levels of this protein are found in patients with POEMS syndrome, also known as Crow-Fukase syndrome. [RefSeq] Titering of the VEGF antibody may be required for optimal performance. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.
