Specificity and Use
Recognizes recombinant Thrombopoietin (human) and the reactivity of TPO (14-29) is ~80%. Does not react to recombinant EPO (human), ACTH (1-39), Calcitonin (human), Insulin (human), Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (human), Insulin-like Growth Factor 2 (human) and Parathyroid hormone (human). By epitope mapping with synthetic peptides, it was found that this antibody binds to residues 14-29 of human TPO.

Megakaryocytopoiesis is the cellular development process that leads to platelet production. The main functional protein encoded by this gene is a humoral growth factor that is necessary for megakaryocyte proliferation and maturation, as well as for thrombopoiesis. This protein is the ligand for MLP/C_MPL, the product of myeloproliferative leukemia virus oncogene. Mutations in this gene are the cause of thrombocythemia 1.
